ISC to sponsor first TOPSoccer program in Warren County - Wednesday, May 19, 2010
The Fall of 2010 will bring TOPSoccer to the club! The Outreach Program for Soccer is a community based soccer program that is designed to meet the needs of children with physical and/or mental disabilities. Player Participation and development are key as players are placed in groupings according to ability and NOT by age. TOPSoccer is designed to improve the overall fitness, self-esteem, and social skills of your child. The age group for interested participants is 8 years old to 14 years old. Each participant will be paired with a volunteer soccer player buddy the entire time we are on the field. Our Fall program will consist of two Saturday clinic/festival type outings held on the grounds of Belvidere High School September 11th 1000 to 1200 and September 25th 1400 to 1600. Each Two-hour session will use fun activities and appropriate skill oriented drills designed to keep every player involed and excited. Registration will be inclusive of both sessions as each participant is encouraged to be with us all 4 hours. More information, including costs and registration requirements will be posted soon! If you have any questions about the TOPSoccer program please contact Christa Orsini at corsini759@aol.com. Additionally we are gladly accepting donations of shin protection, soccer socks, cleats, and numerous other items in the effort to make the registration fees as low as possible.

ATTENTION! Registration Fees beginning in Fall 2010 will increase due to Independence Township’s proposed field usage fee.
Presently, the Independence Township Committee is looking to impose a "usage fee" on those organizations who utilize the Recreation area including the Independence Soccer Club and youth sports administered by the Independence Township Recreation Commission. The usage fee will be a tax levied upon all participants in these organizations, therefore covering residents and non-residents of Independence Township.
The proposed usage fee was developed and approved by the members of the Independence Recreation Commission. It has been suggested to implement the usage fee by July 1st of this year.
Because the supplemental cost of this usage fee has yet to be determined, our registration fees for the Fall 2010 are only tentative. As a non-profit organization, all monies collected by the Independence Soccer Club go directly to develop and run our soccer program. Therefore, if this usage fee is approved, the Independence Soccer Club will have to increase its registration fees in order to collect the assessment required to pay the Township Committee's additional levy.
Registrations placed prior to inactment of the usage fee will be contacted at a later date by the Club for additional reimbursement.
UPDATE! At the May 12th Independence Township Committee meeting on a vote of 3-0 with Mayor Giordano, Committeeman Cummins and Committeeman Norton voting affirmatively to begin the process of developing an ordinance which would give them the authority to assess a usage fee on those who use the Recreation Area.

Introduction to the Independence Soccer Club LETTER TO CLUB MEMBERS The Independence Soccer Club was established as a 501 ( C )( 3 ) non-profit educational organization in 1993 with the approval of the Recreation Commission in order to offer a competitive soccer program not provided in our community. In 1996 the Independence Recreation Commission asked the I.S.C. to administer the Recreation program from 3rd through 8th grade. In the summer of 2007 the recreation committee voted to have I.S.C. administer recreation soccer from kindergarten through 8th grade. Due to community requests the I.S.C established a pre-k program the same season. The I.S.C is a self-funded organization which does not rely on taxpayer money to provide its program. The ISC is not a private club. The fall recreation program provides an opportunity for all of the children in our community to play soccer. Our travel program which runs from fall through the spring season offers the possibility for the more serious player to participate in a competitive environment. The ISC considers it to be a feeder program to Hackettstown High School. Our primary focus remains to develop the children of Independence Twp. into skilled soccer players in addition to the fun of experiencing team sports. The club maintains the position that we must put our faith and trust in “you” the community. We depend on the parent’s voices within our township to express that it is vital for our community’s children that fields and other amenities are provided to us for use. The Independence Soccer Club is a volunteer parental structure, which provides administration and supervision for the activity of community soccer.
